Professional golf has lived through an odd few years with Covid caused events with no gallery, a rival league in LIV and lately a couple of CBS broadcasters have spoken out against the tour on a couple of sensitive topics.

Recently Frank Nobilo spoke out against the PGA-Tour in regards to ending Monday Qualifying for most events. He was relating to Will Chandler who got through the last ever Monday event for the WM Phoenix Open to finish T-6 and earn $310,500. As a side note he beat world #1 Scottie Scheffler Sunday when paired together. His top 10 gets him in to the next regular tour event in Mexico.

We all likely remember the comments Gary McCord made several years ago about the greens at Augusta for the Masters, Gary lost his position as a CBS broadcaster for the Masters.

Slow play has been an issue in golf both professionally and for recreational golfers for many years and there are rules in place for penalties. Dottie Petter another CBS broadcaster recently spoke out against slow play. Tom Kim as been highlighted.

Lucas Glover the 2019 U.S. Open Champion spoke up about slow play and a partial solution he proposed was to get rid of Aim-Point. Many players use this techinque where you stradle the line of the putt and feel in your feet which way the putt will break. When Colin Morikawa heard about this, he said Glover should have his long putter banned.

In the new TGL golf league there is a 40-second shot clock and the first penalty was on major share holder and face of TGL, Tiger Woods. Tiger has had a tough start to the year with his Mom passing away, then he got a special invite to the LA Open being played in San Diego which he is the host, then within a week, he withdrew saying he was not ready to play.

Will be curious to see how this all shake out and I'm sure the CBS crew will not bring their cutting words to Augusta in April.

Be ready to play, don't be a slow poke.
